Goth
The Goth subculture began in the United Kingdom during the early 1980s, Its imagery and cultural proclivities indicate influences from nineteenth century Gothic literature along with horror movies.
The Goth subculture has associated tastes in music, aesthetics, and fashion, whether or not all individuals who share those tastes are in fact members of the Goth subculture. Gothic music encompasses a number of different styles. Common to all is a tendency towards a lugubrious, mystical sound and outlook. Styles of dress within the subculture range from death rock, punk, androgynous, Victorian, some Renaissance and Medieval style attire, or combinations of the above, most often with black attire, makeup and hair.
Notable gothic rock bands include Bauhaus, Siouxsie & the Banshees, The Sex Gang Children, The Cure, The Sisters of Mercy, and Fields of the Nephilim
A Goth could also be said to be :Someone who likes the darker side of things. They usually listen to death metal and Goth music, such as Dismember and Bauhaus.
Goths are not depressing and suicidal. Goths are fun to be around and aren't afraid to laugh at themselves every so often. They don't worship Satan and aren't evil despite what some ignorant people might say. Goths don't all dress alike either. They like to create their own unique style. Goths are also very intelligent and creative. A lot of them are writers and artists.
